Synopsis

Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology with significant potential to improve women’s health, particularly in rural and disadvantaged regions where access to healthcare services is limited. This chapter examines AI applications in maternal health, reproductive health, cancer screening, telehealth, digital health literacy, and nursing care. AI-supported clinical decision support systems, portable ultrasound technologies, chatbot interventions, and remote monitoring tools contribute to early diagnosis, risk prediction, continuity of care, and improved healthcare accessibility. The chapter also discusses the supportive role of AI in healthcare settings characterized by shortages of qualified personnel and inadequate infrastructure. Furthermore, AI-assisted approaches for vulnerable female populations in the contexts of disasters, migration, and humanitarian crises are evaluated. Despite these opportunities, challenges such as digital inequality, algorithmic bias, data privacy, ethical concerns, and sociocultural barriers remain critical issues in the implementation of AI in women’s health. The chapter concludes that sustainable and equitable transformation in women’s healthcare through AI requires context-sensitive, ethically grounded, and inclusive healthcare strategies supported by strong public health policies and digital literacy initiatives.
