Synopsis

This study examines the importance of the design of recreational areas in cities in terms of social, psychological and environmental sustainability. With the rapid urbanization process, it is emphasized that cities should not only provide economic and infrastructure-oriented spaces, but also spaces that increase people's quality of life. Recreational areas not only meet people's needs for rest, entertainment and social interaction, but also create positive effects on physical and psychological health. These areas encourage social harmony by strengthening social ties and make significant contributions to the social fabric of cities. In the design of recreational areas, not only aesthetics but also elements such as accessibility, safety and functionality should be taken into consideration. Creating suitable spaces for individuals of all ages and socioeconomic levels plays a critical role in achieving the purpose of these areas. In addition, recreational areas are also of great importance in terms of environmental sustainability. Natural green areas help protect the environment by providing ecosystem services and ensure the continuation of biodiversity in cities. As a result, the design of recreational areas is of great importance not only for the health and social interaction of individuals, but also for maintaining the environmental balance. Proper planning of these areas is a fundamental building block in the construction of healthier, more livable and sustainable cities.
