Special interest tourism constitutes a specialized field within the tourism industry characterized by travel activities that focus primarily on individuals' interests, preferences or hobbies. These specialized areas encompass various branches of art, local cultures, personal hobbies, and distinctive environments, offering unique experiences and meaningful connections. This study was conducted following the traditional literature review methodology to present the general framework and conceptual background of special interest tourism, its position within the tourism industry, its fundamental components, its impacts on the tourism field, and the potential roles and significance it may hold in the future of the sector. Within the scope of the research, special interest tourism, types of special interest tourism, differences between special interest tourism and other kinds of tourism, marketing of special interest tourism, its economic effects, difficulties encountered in special interest tourism, and expectations for its future were explained and the subject was detailed by creating a theoretical and practical basis. The findings are critically interpreted and discussed, leading to a set of evidence-based recommendations.
