Synopsis

The ever-changing and evolving structure of health services necessitates health professionals to constantly update their professional knowledge and skills. In this process, traditional education methods may be insufficient in maintaining learners' attention and making knowledge permanent. In recent years, the gamification approach, which makes learning processes more effective and interactive, has emerged as an innovative method in the education of health professionals. This book chapter covers the definition of gamification, its basic principles, and its integration into health education. The advantages of gamification, such as increasing motivation, encouraging participation in the learning process, and strengthening knowledge retention, are explained with examples. In addition, the difficulties encountered in practice and success factors are evaluated through gamification scenarios supported by digital games, simulations, and virtual reality applications. It is emphasized that gamification applications in education improve not only individual learning, but also teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. At the end of the chapter, what needs to be done and suggestions are presented for the sustainable and evidence-based development of gamification as an effective educational tool.
