Synopsis

The subject of economic growth has been one of the most important macroeconomic goals of all countries throughout history. Because economic growth, in a sense, means the enrichment of countries and the increase in the welfare of individuals. Therefore, the subject of "Economic growth and its determinants" constitutes the most selective and intensive research area in economic literature. In the context of these studies, different growth theories have been developed and put forward over time. Within the scope of these theories, it has been stated that production factors such as labor, natural resources, physical capital and technology are the basic elements determining growth. Until the 1980s, these elements were considered external, and with the 1980s, these elements were internalized and included in the models in studies on economic growth, and studies have progressed in this direction. Recent theoretical discussions in the growth literature focus on the role of non-economic factors in the economic growth process. In this context, the view that the institutional dynamics of countries, such as political, legal, social and cultural, are the main determinants of growth is discussed and defended by many scientists and thinkers. In this respect, institutions and institutional elements, which constitute the most important share of non-economic elements, have begun to constitute the most important field of study in today's growth literatüre.
