Synopsis
In the contemporary era of rapid digital transformation, smart cities have emerged as a pivotal framework for reimagining urban life. Far beyond the mere integration of technological infrastructure, smart cities encompass a comprehensive vision that prioritizes sustainability, social equity, and quality of life. Driven by technologies such as big data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence, smart city models are increasingly guided by principles of efficient resource management and participatory governance. Within this evolving landscape, urban recreation assumes a critical role—not only as a facilitator of individual well-being and leisure but also as a medium for fostering social cohesion, cultural engagement, and environmental consciousness. This study explores the dynamic intersection between smart city initiatives and urban recreation, examining how their convergence contributes to holistic urban transformation. Employing a qualitative content analysis approach, the findings suggest that the strategic and inclusive design of recreational spaces within smart city frameworks can catalyze not only technological advancement but also socio-cultural development. Ultimately, the paper argues that successful urban transformation in the digital age requires an integrative perspective—one that aligns technological innovation with human-centered urban planning and the evolving recreational needs of urban populations.
