Synopsis

Throughout history, keeping alive the memory of influential literary and intellectual figures has been a vital way of preserving cultural consciousness. Among such figures, Melayê Cizîrî (1570–1640) stands out as one of the foremost representatives of the Islamic mystical tradition. His poetry and philosophical views not only shaped the intellectual and literary life of his own era but also deeply influenced later generations. Addressing universal themes such as love, existence, humanity, and truth, his works remain significant today. In this spirit, the 3rd International Melayê Cizîrî Symposium was held on November 15–16, 2024, hosted by Şırnak University and the Cizre District Governorship, with the participation of distinguished scholars and researchers from various countries. The symposium focused on “Melayê Cizîrî’s Understanding of Knowledge,” presenting studies on his life, poetry, mystical thought, and intellectual legacy. The reviewed and edited papers are compiled in this volume, which serves as both an academic resource and a testament to intercultural and scholarly collaboration.
