Synopsis

In our age, with the development of digital technologies, consumer behavior and, consequently, business models are experiencing rapid changes. While this change and transformation create new opportunities, it can also have devastating consequences for businesses that fail to adapt. Therefore, businesses are striving to achieve digital transformation to increase their efficiency, reduce costs, improve their interactions with customers and stakeholders, and maintain their competitive advantage. Research shows that an average of 87.5% of digital transformation initiatives fail. The most notable reasons for this failure are those related to management and organizational culture. Resistance to change within organizations and a lack of leadership that embraces, encourages, and manages change are among the primary management challenges.
The empowering potential of learning organizations in solving managerial problems in digital transformation initiatives appears significant. Organizational learning is noteworthy as a culture and concept that supports individual and collective learning, enhances organizations' capacity to create and share knowledge, and strengthens their ability to proactively respond to dynamic environmental changes and strengthens their ability to think systematically. This article examines the definition and nature of digital transformation, along with research findings on the factors that make transformation necessary or challenging. It also assesses the relationship between the capabilities of learning organizations and the digital transformation capacities of businesses. The results suggest that capabilities and characteristics found in learning organizations, such as open communication and knowledge sharing, organizational trust, a dynamic learning culture, a consistent emphasis on learning and development, safe psychological environments that support diverse perspectives, the ability to adapt to change, and a predisposition to cultural transformation, can help businesses reach digital maturity more effectively, enable the more effective use of digital applications in creating new business models, and enable organizations to approach digital transformation with a more holistic perspective.
