Synopsis
Çankırı central district is a very rich city in terms of cultural heritage. There are different types of buildings in the city center, including religious and civil buildings. The buildings are generally located on the outskirts of Çankırı Castle, where the first settlement was located.
The houses are generally dated to the 19th century. One of these residences located in the central district is the Ahmet Dikmen residence. The house is a plan type with an inner hall and there are rooms around the hall. The building is two-storey and the upper floor should extend to the outside. It is a highly qualified civil building in terms of decoration. There are geometric and floral decorations, especially on the facade and interior ceilings.
In the study, a monographic examination was made on the architectural and decorative features of the Ahmet Dikmen house located in the center of Çankırı. The research was limited to the traditional house. Preserving the house to the present day and ensuring its sustainability is important for our cultural heritage.
