Synopsis

The food sector is considered a strategically vital industry in a country’s economy, as it fulfills the fundamental human need for nutrition and plays a crucial role in determining public health and quality of life. The sector is highly sensitive to fluctuations in supply and demand, changes in raw material prices, and global economic developments. Therefore, it is essential to regularly monitor the financial performance of enterprises operating in this field. The present study aims to determine the financial performance of enterprises operating in the food sector in Russia by employing the CRITIC, CoCoSo, and COPRAS multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. The study determined that although the evaluations obtained through the CoCoSo and COPRAS methods exhibited parallel tendencies, certain differences in the rankings of some enterprises emerged due to methodological variations between the two approaches. In this context, employing a multi-method approach in the financial performance analyses of the food industry can provide a more reliable and comprehensive evaluation.
