Synopsis

Nordic walking has emerged as a popular recreational activity worldwide, offering multiple benefits for physical and psychological well-being. This chapter examines the effects of Nordic walking on individuals’ physical performance, cardiorespiratory system, musculoskeletal health, and overall quality of life. Additionally, the social dimension of the activity, including interaction with nature and group dynamics, is analyzed. Linked with the concept of green exercise, Nordic walking has been shown to reduce stress, enhance cognitive performance, and strengthen social cohesion. Drawing upon existing scientific literature, the chapter also explores the effects of Nordic walking across different age and demographic groups. In conclusion, Nordic walking is not only valuable for physical health but also serves as an important recreational activity with social, psychological, and environmental benefits.
