Synopsis
The book series titled The Evolution of Financial Markets (I-IV) encompasses a broad spectrum of chapters in the fields of finance, economics, and banking. The series addresses current and critical topics such as cryptocurrencies, derivative markets, geopolitical risks, green finance, sustainability, capital adequacy, risk management, financial literacy, performance analysis, investment behavior, Islamic finance, and innovation. Each volume offers diverse perspectives by focusing on different dimensions of the financial ecosystem. Given the challenges and opportunities presented by the dynamic financial structure, particularly within the context of advanced technology and artificial intelligence applications, the depth and diversity of research in this area are critically important for future projections. Therefore, in the fifth volume of the series, it was deemed appropriate to conduct a bibliometric analysis that would serve as a guide for financial market participants. In this context, the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) literature specific to Borsa Istanbul (BIST) has been examined using a bibliometric method based on publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database, thereby mapping the primary research areas, influential publications, and the intellectual structure. The analysis for this study comprised a sample of 2.669 articles retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database using a query based on the keywords Borsa Istanbul and MCDM. The results retrieved from the Web of Science database query were subsequently analyzed using the Biblioshiny software. The research has predominantly concentrated on themes such as performance measurement, company selection, risk analysis, and sustainability, with the frequent application of the AHP and TOPSIS methods being identified. In addition to contributions from Turkish scholars, researchers from Lithuania, China, India, and Iran have played a prominent role in shaping this field. Notably, Borsa Istanbul Review has emerged as the leading journal in terms of publication output.
