Synopsis

Many negatives occur while working at height. The adequacy of occupational safety measures taken in the work performed should be examined. Work at height is performed in many sectors, particularly in the construction sector, as well as in textiles, automotive, mining, agriculture, etc., and negative outcomes such as falls from height, injuries, fractures, and death have been observed in the work performed.

Workplace safety measures must be taken to protect the health and safety of workers during work at height. The foremost of these measures is risk assessment, which is a method of identifying hazards in the work area and the risks arising from these hazards. Risk assessment is carried out as a team effort involving occupational safety professionals, individuals knowledgeable about the work performed at the workplace, and the employer or employer's representative. Furthermore, after collective protection measures, such as source protection and environmental protection measures, are taken, the health and safety of workers is ensured through personal protective measures.

This chapter of the book will examine the causes of accidents in work at height, the obligations of employers and workers regarding such work, and the occupational safety measures that must be taken to prevent accidents during work.
