Seyr u Sülûk in Ibn al-Fariz's Kasîde-i Tâiyye (in the Context of Nâblusî's Commentary)
Synopsis
Ibn al-Fariz (576/1181-632/1235) is considered the pinnacle of Sufi Arabic poetry. His Kasîde-i Tâiyye, also known as Nazmü’s-sülûk, has been commented on for centuries and has generated a vast literature due to its profound symbolic dimensions. The last classical link in this tradition is the commentary by Abdülganî en-Nâblusî (1050/1641-1143/1731). This work examines the commentary tradition of the Qasida al-Tâiyya within its historical continuity and offers a detailed analysis centered on Nâblusî's commentary. The study first examines Ibn al-Fariz's life and poetic understanding, then evaluates the commentators and works on the Tâiyye, starting with Fergânî and ending with Nâblusî. In the final section, the verses are classified and analyzed within the framework of Nâblusî's original interpretations. This book serves as a comprehensive reference for those working in the fields of Sufism studies and Arabic literature, revealing the richness of the classical commentary tradition.
