Synopsis

Leadership and communication are seen as two fundamental building blocks for managing sustainable success and change in today's organizations. The concept of leadership is discussed, the role and influence of the leader is explained, and how communication has become a strategic tool in this process is revealed. While examining the relationship between leadership and communication styles, the new communication dynamics brought about by digitalization and the phenomenon of virtual leadership are also discussed. It is emphasized that a leader's communication skills are not limited to message delivery, but also include functions such as meaning production, emotional interaction, and culture building. Literature-based analyses show that leaders with effective communication skills have positive effects on organizational commitment, motivation, innovation, and the creation of an environment of psychological trust. Therefore, the success of the leadership process is directly related to the quality of communication.

The leader's communication skills are not limited to conveying information, but also include functions such as creating emotional bonds, building trust, resolving conflicts, and helping to shape organizational culture. In addition, leadership in the digital age takes on a new dimension with the impact of virtual communication tools. Leaders should have strong communication skills and be able to communicate in an agile manner on digital platforms.

Leadership and communication are considered two essential components for individuals and organizations to function effectively and efficiently. Leadership is a process that aims not only to achieve organizational goals, but also to create meaning among individuals and unite them around a collective vision. In this process, communication is more than a tool; it is considered a critical skill that the leader needs to clearly communicate goals, motivate employees, and drive organizational change. This chapter first defines the concepts of leadership and communication, and then discusses the relationship between these two phenomena and how they feed each other within a theoretical framework.
