Synopsis

The civil aviation sector, which began to develop in the twentieth century, continues to grow under increasing demand. Today, in order to meet this demand, airline companies have adopted various strategies, and new airports have been constructed in different regions, making nearly every point in the world accessible by air. While environmental problemscausedbytheworld’spopulationcontinuetopersist, civilaviationhasalsobeen observed to contribute to these issues. Efforts have been planned to address prominent problemssuchasaircraftfuelconsumption, apronvehicleemissions, andelectricityusage in terminals. While aiming for a more livable, healthier, and longer-lasting world, these efforts also strive for efficiency, helping to support the costs of both airline companies and airport operators. In this context, concepts such as ‘Green Airport’ and ‘Green Aviation’have been introduced to the aviation sector. Efficient operational activities in airlines are crucial for passengers. These activities need to be sustainable, both for passenger satisfaction and airline profitability. Therefore, services in the aviation sector should be developed within the framework of airline strategies based on the concept of sustainability.
