Özet

This study provides a comprehensive examination of Solar Tracking Systems (STS), focusing on their historical development and the central role of image processing techniques in next-generation STS. Initially, STS relied on passive tracking mechanisms and sensor-based control methods. These approaches encountered issues such as low precision, slow response times, and vulnerability to environmental factors like shading or dust accumulation, often leading to tracking errors and efficiency losses. The current work investigates the solution provided by image processing method in solar tracking to these aforementioned problems via its adaptability to dynamic conditions, and its capability for high-precision tracking.

The book offers detailed content on the fundamental principles of STS, hardware components, and image processing-based control algorithms. The selection of system components and load calculations are meticulously addressed, with a review of relevant literature and patent studies. Practical implementation guidance, utilizing Single Board Computers (SBCs), illustrates methods for precise sun detection, adaptive thresholding for varying light conditions, and high-accuracy control methods achieved through PID algorithms. The integration of an astronomical positioning algorithm ensures reliable operation even when the sun is not visible, allowing the system to maintain optimal orientation or transition to a safe park position. Furthermore, the study includes mechanisms for remote monitoring and data logging for operational efficiency.
