Synopsis
The Turkey Century Education Model signifies a shift in the education system from a ‘results-oriented’ grading approach to a ‘process-oriented’ approach. Assessment and evaluation in Physical Education and Sports lessons now target the student's holistic development, not just physical performance (stopwatch, number of push-ups). The fundamental philosophy of the new system is based on the reality that each student is unique, making their individual development visible rather than comparing them with each other. The classic concept of ‘Assessment and Evaluation’ has been replaced by ‘Evidence of Learning,’ which is based on data that proves the student's progress. This holistic perspective brings together subject-specific skills under the umbrella of BEOSAB (Physical Education, Games and Sports Field Skills). A significant innovation in this model is the acceptance of individual differences (Differentiation). Assessment focuses on the effort the student has made relative to their own starting level. In the new system, success is measured not by how fast you run, but by how much progress you have made, what you have gained in terms of values, and how much effort you have put in during the process.
