Synopsis

Sports Sciences Research 9 is a comprehensive academic edited volume that addresses athletic performance through psychological, cognitive, perceptual, managerial, and socio-cultural dimensions rather than limiting it to purely physical outcomes. The book adopts a holistic perspective aligned with contemporary sport science, encompassing athletes, coaches, referees, managers, and sport consumers.

The volume examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental health in athletes, emphasizing performance sustainability and psychological resilience under pressure. In addition, effective communication and conflict resolution skills are discussed in relation to team cohesion, motivation, and long-term performance, highlighting the interpersonal nature of sport environments.

Another key focus of the book is vision training and perceptual-cognitive processes, exploring how visual attention, gaze control, and decision-making skills influence athletic performance across different sports. The concept of post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) is also analyzed as an evidence-based strategy for acute performance improvement in training and competition settings.

From a broader social and managerial perspective, the book addresses the global and national evolution of beach volleyball, linking sport tourism and institutional development, and examines taekwondo as a socialization tool for children, emphasizing its psychological and social benefits. Furthermore, the transformation of sports consumer behavior from stadiums to digital platforms is analyzed through digitalization, fan engagement, and experience economy frameworks.

With its integrative and up-to-date approach, Sports Sciences Research 9 serves as a valuable reference for academics, graduate students, coaches, sport managers, and practitioners working in the fields of sports sciences, sport psychology, sport management, and sport sociology.
