Synopsis
With technological developments from past to present, the field of administrative sciences has been influenced and transformed by these advancements. Especially with the process of digitalization, developments in communication technologies have made it necessary to question and redefine many concepts. This is because digital transformation not only changes the way we conduct business but also deeply affects the fundamental values and ethical understanding of administrative science.
Traditional moral systems make decisions based on what is considered good or bad, whereas ethics focuses on human-centered decisions and acting with a sense of responsibility. Today, with digitalization, decisions are increasingly evolving into data-, algorithm-, and artificial-intelligence-supported decision-making processes. This shows that decision-making processes in the field of administrative sciences now take place on a different ground. Therefore, it becomes important to evaluate the effects of this situation on the field of administrative sciences and the opportunities and risks that the emerging new paradigms bring for organizations.
This study aims to define the concepts of morality, ethics, and digital ethics, examine the relationships among them, and analyze the reflections of the ethical transformation brought about by digitalization on administrative sciences. This is because, throughout the process extending from traditional moral values to systematic ethical understanding and then to digital influence, administrative science undergoes both structural and conceptual transformation.
The study discusses the impact of this paradigm shift on the fundamental principles of management approaches, decision-making processes, and the manager’s understanding of responsibility. As a result, digitalization emphasizes that management ethics is not merely a technical issue but also requires an ethical understanding based on digital responsibility and societal trust.
