Synopsis

The story is one of the oldest narrative forms in human history, and storytelling is one of the oldest forms of communication. From cave paintings to oral narratives, from written texts to digital platforms, the story has adapted to the cultural and technological conditions of each era, undergoing unique transformations. Today, the most prominent stage of these transformations is AI-powered digital storytelling. Digitalization has transformed the story beyond the confines of text, enriching it with visual, auditory, and interactive elements. Artificial intelligence has added a new dimension to this process, offering opportunities such as speed, variety, and personalization in story creation. Writers can now use AI tools to model character development, generate alternative scenarios, and reshape the story according to the reader's preferences. This transforms stories from a static structure into a dynamic and multilayered media product. The evolution of the story is also redefining the role of the narrator. The traditional writer is now becoming a "story designer" collaborating with AI. This collaboration supports human creativity while also raising questions about originality, reality, ethics, and aesthetics. For example, how will the originality, emotional depth, artistic merits, and cultural context of a story generated by artificial intelligence be evaluated? This study examines and discusses AI-assisted digital storytelling, which represents a critical threshold in the historical transformation of the story, and how these technologies are reshaping both narrative forms and the reader-writer relationship.
