Synopsis

Being outside the workforce creates severe economic and sociological impacts on families and society. To avoid these impacts, finding a job or having a job sometimes turns into competition among job seekers, and a large portion of job seekers diversify their skills in order to find a job offering better conditions. One of the necessities brought about by the digitalization process is acquiring new skills that facilitate adaptation to digital transformation.

This study points out that digital skills are the most important characteristic affecting the employability of the working population. Based on changes in the quality of the workforce and the structure of labor demand, it attempts to demonstrate how possessing digital skills becomes an advantage for job seekers. The study's unique contribution lies in its discussion of the "impact of digital skills on employability" issue, illustrated with concrete examples from national and international contexts and suggestions to improve skills. It is expected that the literature findings and the scope of the study, illustrated with concrete examples, will provide insights for the workforce seeking employment, serve as a resource for researchers in the fields of human resources, labor economics, and industrial relations, and contribute to the development and advancement of the literature.
