Digital and Artificial Intelligence-Based Transformation of Management and Organization: Theories, Structures, and Strategic Approaches.
Synopsis
Advances in digitalisation and artificial intelligence technologies are significantly transforming organisations’ management approaches, business processes and employee relations. While digital applications such as big data, automation, cloud technologies and remote working systems provide organisations with speed, efficiency and a competitive advantage, they are also reshaping employees’ perceptions of the organisation, management and working relationships. In this transformation process, employees’ trust is not only in the technology itself but also in the organisational structures and managers who oversee these technologies has become a critical factor. However, elements such as electronic surveillance practices, data security issues, algorithmic decision-making mechanisms and the reduction in human interaction can weaken employees’ perception of organisational trust. Consequently, it has been assessed that rebuilding organisational trust during the digital transformation process is achievable through transparent communication, an ethical management approach, employee participation, a sense of fairness, and people-centred leadership practices. In this regard, it has been concluded that organisational trust holds strategic importance in establishing sustainable and effective organisational structures in the digital age.
