Synopsis

Western influence, which has significantly increased its influence since the beginning of the eighteenth century, cultural and civilization-based mental upheavals caused by industrialization and technological developments, August Comte's “positivism religion” indoctrination, which directly targets the “belief structure and world of values” of Ottoman-Turkish society, leads to what Tanpinar would describe as a “crisis of civilization”. In fact, this definition is placed on the starting ground of “New Turkish Literature”. However, “What is the literary understanding that has been abandoned/lost as a result of this depression?”, “has this literary understanding, which is claimed to be lost, completely disappeared?" questions such as " should be re-focused on. The answers to these questions will lead us to get to know the “Töreli Turkish Literature” that takes the “belief structure and value world” of the society as its basis and is concerned with it directly, and to evaluate its situation/possibilities in the recent/new period. As a result of the evaluation, it will be seen that it is essential to reconsider some of the usual classifications and approaches related to the literary era that we have qualified as “new”. This study aims to open a door and create ground for the interrogations that will be carried out based on this obligation.
