Synopsis

Dental tourism has become an important sector with foreign patients traveling for treatment methods such as dental implants, prosthesis and periodontics. During this process, it is emphasized that individuals receiving treatment should pay attention to their nutrition in order to support their recovery process. Especially in elderly individuals, tooth loss and the use of prosthesis can cause chewing and swallowing problems and cause nutritional deficiencies. This leads to deterioration of oral health and negatively affects the recovery process.

Healthy nutrition is critical for both the treatment process and general oral health. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to special dietary requirements in the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet meals and beverage consumption offered in dental tourists' accommodation facilities. In order not to negatively affect the healing process of individuals receiving treatment within the scope of dental tourism, soft, low-fibre, easy to digest and stew can accelerate healing. Macro and micronutrients have a great effect on oral health. In particular, consuming at least 5 servings of vegetables and fruits per day supports oral health and has positive effects on general health.

In addition, in order to maintain healthy eating habits during the holiday period, it is recommended to offer natural alternatives such as smoothies instead of fruit juice and to prefer natural sweeteners such as honey instead of artificial sweeteners. Such dietary changes will positively affect the treatment processes of dental tourists and accelerate their recovery after treatment. As a result, the quality of health services for dental tourism should not be limited to treatment methods only, but should also be supported by accommodation and nutrition services.
