This study's objective is to propose a novel, hybrid Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) model to assess and measure countries' macroeconomic performance, providing policymakers with a hybrid decision-support model. The proposed model integrates the Standard Deviation (SD) approach and the Range Of Value (ROV) approach. The SD procedure is used to determine the objective weights of the eight macroeconomic indicators employed in the performance assessment, while the ROV procedure computes the performance rankings of the countries. To validate the model, an empirical case study was conducted using 2023 macroeconomic data from Euronext countries: France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Italy and Norway. Findings obtained from the first stage of the analysis, based on the SD methodology, suggest that the unemployment rate is the most significant macroeconomic performance criterion. The second stage identified the Netherlands as the country with the highest overall performance score using the ROV procedure. The final stage of the analysis involved applying the Spearman rank correlation test to examine the relationship between countries' macroeconomic performance rankings (based on ROV scores) and their Human Development Index (HDI) rankings for 2023. Although a moderately positive relationship was observed between the two ranking series, the correlation was not found to be statistically significant. Lastly, a series of sensitivity and comparative analyses were conducted to test the robustness and reliability of the proposed hybrid methodology. The empirical findings from these analyses demonstrate that the proposed model produces highly stable, consistent and resilient results to sensitivity, thus confirming its methodological soundness and practical applicability.
