Macroeconomic Policies and Practices on Energy and Sustainability
Synopsis
Energy is not only a fundamental input in modern economic systems but also a strategic element that contributes significantly to development objectives. When the continuously increasing global demand for energy is combined with concerns about climate change and environmental sustainability, it becomes inevitable to address energy and environmental policies at the macroeconomic level. In this context, analyzing in detail the complex relationships between energy and sustainability holds great importance for both academic circles and policymakers. This book aims to contribute to the literature by examining issues of energy and sustainability through the lens of macroeconomic policy and practice. It is intended to serve as a comprehensive reference source for researchers, graduate students, and policymakers working in the fields of energy economics and sustainability.
The book consists of seven chapters, each written by distinguished academics. The first chapter analyzes Turkey’s participation in the international climate change regime through a SWOT analysis from the perspective of sustainable development. The second chapter presents an economic evaluation of renewable energy policies in European countries and Turkey using multi-criteria decision-making methods. The third chapter explores the relationship between migration and sustainable development in the case of Turkey, while the fourth chapter analyzes the impact of sustainable uncertainties on investments across several developed countries. The fifth chapter discusses various sustainability indicators and evaluates Turkey’s position in terms of sustainability. The sixth chapter focuses on the sustainability and inclusiveness of structural transformation, with a particular emphasis on Turkey. Finally, the seventh chapter investigates the dynamic relationships among income inequality, growth, and renewable energy consumption in Turkey.
