Synopsis

The purpose of this book is to reveal the origins and current state of ecological crises by examining the relationship between human beings and nature—which has been bestowed upon humanity as a source of life—through theological, historical, philosophical, and ethical dimensions. It also aims to highlight the fragility of nature and the degradation processes shaped by human intervention.

While discussing how perspectives on nature have been shaped from belief systems to ethical theories, the book analyzes the dimensions of issues such as climate change, global warming, the water crisis, erosion, desertification, and land degradation that affect the existence and sustainability of human life. Each chapter examines the human–nature relationship through philosophical thought, ethical responsibility, and theological and cultural approaches, offering a snapshot of the current situation on both global and national scales.

This book demonstrates that the relationship between nature and humanity is not merely a technical matter but one that carries ethical, philosophical, and cultural dimensions. It emphasizes that understanding crises requires not only scientific data but also an examination of value systems. In this way, it seeks to give voice to nature’s “silent cry” and confront humanity with its own responsibility.

This book does not claim to be perfect. On the contrary, it is an invitation not to perfection but to questioning and intellectual reflection. Its primary aim is to encourage the reader to look at their relationship with nature from a different perspective and to perceive it as an integral whole that shapes the meaning and boundaries of human life. The fundamental expectation is that, beyond the pleasure of reading, the reader will reconsider the value of the resources (blessings) they possess and deepen their sense of responsibility. If this book succeeds in awakening intellectual curiosity and offering an opportunity to re-evaluate these resources with a careful and humble eye, it shall be deemed to have fulfilled its purpose.
