Synopsis
This section covers the problems encountered in the employment of individuals with disabilities in the workplace, the rights-based policies implemented to address these problems, and accessible employment methods. Ensuring the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in employment and increasing their employment rates is not only an economic necessity but also a fundamental human right. In this context, the study first examines the relationship between disability, employment, and politics, and then addresses the individual and structural problems encountered in the employment of individuals with disabilities. Because individuals with disabilities face structural inequalities in education before entering the workforce, they are prevented from acquiring a profession and developing their skills through vocational training, placing them in a disadvantaged position and preventing them from participating in the workforce with a qualified workforce. Furthermore, the lack of fully accessible transportation services and physical and spatial accessibility issues constitute one of the main obstacles to individuals with disabilities' ability to continue working. Social welfare and social policies are critical to resolving these problems, preventing rights violations, and establishing a rights-based approach. Therefore, implementing rights-based social policies for the employment of individuals with disabilities is a fundamental requirement for building an inclusive life, one where social peace and social balance prevail for all of society. In this context, examples of rights-based social policy implementation in Turkey were examined and suggestions for the construction of accessible employment were presented.
