Current Trends in Global Agriculture: Epigenetic Approaches
Synopsis
In our era of rapidly evolving scientific knowledge, epigenetics has become one of the most important fields transcending the boundaries of genetics. The ability to regulate gene expression through environmental, chemical, and biotic factors without any changes in the DNA sequence is redefining the mechanisms of adaptation, development, and stress response in living organisms. From the perspective of agricultural sciences, this phenomenon profoundly affects not only the yield and quality of plant production but also sustainable breeding strategies.
This work, titled “Current Trends in Global Agriculture: Epigenetic Approaches,” takes a multidimensional look at the roles of epigenetic mechanisms in plant biology, their integration into agricultural production systems, and their intersections with biotechnological applications. Topics such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, RNA-based regulation, epigenetic memory, stress tolerance, weed biology, entomology, and biotechnology are discussed in light of the current literature, with contributions from researchers who are experts in their respective fields.
This book provides a comprehensive guide for both academic researchers and graduate students to understand the practical implications of epigenetic science in agriculture. It is also enriched with original examples and current research data on how epigenetics-based approaches can be used for plant breeding, biotechnological innovations, and sustainable agriculture strategies.
It is our greatest hope that this work will contribute to the integration of epigenetic awareness into agricultural research in our country, serve as a guiding resource for young researchers, and inspire future interdisciplinary studies.
