Synopsis

Dear Colleagues and Esteemed Readers,

Midwifery is a unique discipline as deeply rooted as human history, witnessing the miracle of life, and blending science and art with compassion. Evolving from the role of "women assisting in childbirth" throughout history, it has today become a professional identity equipped with evidence-based practices, at the heart of women's and community health. This work, "Multidimensional Approaches in Midwifery: From Clinic to Community" has been prepared to deeply examine this evolution of our profession and its expanding scope. Today, it is impossible to reduce midwifery services to a single dimension. While a midwife's hand performs the most critical clinical intervention in the delivery room, her mind and heart analyze the psychological well-being of that woman, the social structure of the family, and the cultural dynamics of the community. This book addresses precisely this "multidimensionality." The work covers everything from advanced clinical skills in hospital corridors to home visits in the field; from the management of high-risk pregnancies to breastfeeding counseling; It encompasses a wide spectrum, from midwifery services in disaster situations to sexual and reproductive health policies. With the motto "From Clinic to Community," our aim is to emphasize not only the midwife's direct contact with the patient, but also her leadership role in increasing health literacy in society and expanding preventive health services. Because we know that a healthy society is possible with healthy women; and healthy women are possible with quality midwifery care.

I express my gratitude to all the chapter authors who contributed to the creation of this work, generously sharing their knowledge and field experience. I hope that this academically rigorous study will serve as a valuable resource for midwifery undergraduate and graduate students, our colleagues working in clinics, and all healthcare professionals working in the field of women's health.

With the hope that this book will add a new vision to our profession on this journey we continue in the light of science, without compromising our professional ethical values, and always saying "people first"...

With love and respect,

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reyhan AYDIN DOĞAN, Dr. Sebahat HÜSEYİNOĞLU
