Synopsis

Addressing the ongoing transformation of mathematics education from multiple perspectives, this book brings together theoretical approaches and practice-oriented research to provide a comprehensive contribution to the literature. The implications of competency- and skills-based educational approaches for mathematics teaching are examined in relation to international standards, while the opportunities created by digital learning environments are explored through the lenses of data mining and learning analytics.
The volume also investigates the role of visual-spatial thinking in supporting mathematical understanding in primary education through an interdisciplinary framework and discusses alternative assessment and evaluation approaches that enable a more comprehensive understanding of student learning. In addition, common misconceptions in statistics education are analyzed in light of contemporary research findings, and evidence-based pedagogical strategies are presented to support effective teaching and learning.
Prepared with contributions from scholars specializing in mathematics education and related fields, this book serves as a valuable resource for researchers, graduate students, teacher educators, teachers, and professionals working in curriculum development, educational technology, assessment and evaluation, and statistics education. The volume offers a comprehensive academic framework for understanding current challenges in mathematics education and for developing future-oriented research and practice perspectives.
