Synopsis

Changes and developments that occur in the world and the field of management lead to the emergence of new issues. Quiet quitting and quiet firing, which are new and recently popular concepts, are issues that employers and managers should emphasize. One of the reasons why these topics are popular is the Covid-19 pandemic and the rapid changes and difficult working conditions experienced during the process. Another reason is that concepts spread quickly among people in similar situations on social media. The concept of quiet quitting is defined as taking on less responsibility in the company, not doing more than what is required by the job description, and putting in the least amount of effort for the company without leaving the job with a resignation letter. The concept of quiet firing is when business owners force employees to quit their jobs without officially dismissing them. The problems that emerged in the work environment during the pandemic and the reasons such as burnout and lack of motivation among employees have caused the quiet quitting process to take place. The response of employers and managers to the quiet quitting behavior of employees is usually quiet firing. It is very important for employers and managers to understand these concepts, which have negative effects on employee and corporate performance, and to develop solution suggestions accordingly. In the study, the concepts of quiet quitting and quiet firing, their causes, symptoms, effects, and results, prevention methods, and some studies investigating the concept were examined and suggestions were presented.
