Occupational health and safety (OHS) has become a multi-layered field that needs to be addressed not only as a technical discipline but also with its social, economic, cultural and political dimensions in line with the developing production relations and changing social structures since the industrial revolution. Today, preventing occupational accidents and occupational diseases is possible not only with individual measures but also with comprehensive strategies that are intertwined with social awareness, legal regulations, institutional policies and sustainable development goals. In this context, OSH has become an inseparable part of social policy and has integrated with basic concepts such as social welfare, social justice, labour rights and working conditions befitting human dignity.

This book is an original study that addresses the issue of occupational health and safety from a social policy perspective. The chapters prepared with the contributions of expert academics from various sectors of Turkey; offer comprehensive analyses on a wide range from occupational accidents to the social security system, from the legal and implementation processes of personal protective equipment to chemical exposure management; from the health and safety dimensions of precarious working styles to agriculture and animal husbandry; and from sustainability and chemical technologies in the textile and wood painting sectors.
