Synopsis

The business world has become an arena filled with rapidly changing dynamics and complex relationships. Organizations, as platforms where individuals interact and collaborate, embody not only success and productivity but also human emotions, conflicts, and social dynamics. This work, "The Dark Side of Organizational Behavior," aims to explore the dark dynamics underlying this multidimensional structure, the depths of human behavior, and the various elements of organizational relationships.

The book primarily analyzes how these dark behavioral patterns emerge, under what conditions they develop, and how they operate within the organizational context. It also examines the impact of these behaviors on key issues in organizational behavior, providing a comprehensive perspective. In particular, it reveals how individuals manipulate power dynamics and how this impacts organizations.

To this end, one of the book's focuses is on the so-called "Dark Triad," which encompasses factors such as psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism, which influence individual behavior. The impact of these concepts in the workplace can have profound effects not only on individuals but also on the overall health of teams and organizations. The structure created by the Dark Triad, when combined with organizational injustice, can create an environment that threatens individual motivation, commitment, and productivity. This is where the framework presented by this book becomes crucial.

Organizational injustice brings about devastating consequences when individuals are subjected to unfair treatment. It comprehensively examines how workplace injustices arise, the psychological impact they have on employees, and their negative impact on organizational performance.

Furthermore, the concept of "Psychological Contract Breach" addresses the disappointment and decline in employee engagement that arise when employee expectations are not met. Employees' commitment to the organization depends on the healthy maintenance of established psychological contracts. This book offers important insights into how these breaches occur and how their consequences should be managed.

Organizational loneliness is an increasingly common phenomenon in today's business world. Lost in a culture of silence, employees struggle not only with job security concerns but also with a lack of organizational communication. This book examines organizational loneliness, how it affects employee motivation, and the long-term costs of this situation for organizations.

Work-family conflict, on the other hand, reveals the challenges employees face in trying to balance both their work and personal lives. This book examines how work and personal life influence each other, how they can affect employee performance, and the responsibilities of organizations in addressing these challenges.

Finally, overt and covert discrimination in organizations profoundly impacts how individuals feel at work, their social relationships, and their career development. This book also covers how these forms of discrimination emerge and what can be done to counter them.

"The Dark Side of Organizational Behavior" sheds light not only on the socioeconomic dimensions of organizations but also on the psychological and social well-being of individuals. We believe this work is an important resource for managers, employees, and academics, and will be a useful guide for anyone seeking to understand, recognize, and take proactive steps to address these dark sides. It's important to remember that dark sides are not only threats but also issues that need to be illuminated. We hope this book will encourage students to explore this complex and multifaceted nature of organizational behavior, raise awareness to confront these dark dynamics, and ultimately contribute to creating healthier work environments.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this book, which is expected to fill a gap in the literature with a different perspective, especially my esteemed chapter authors professors.

I wish you an enjoyable read.
